    • Steps to reproduce:
      Hide
Startig Matterhorn with the default configuration, the user is faced with an error + Stacktrace due to incorrect configuration:

      2015-03-17 14:10:11 ERROR (?:?) - [org.osgi.service.cm.ManagedService, org.opencastproject.kernel.mail.SmtpService, id=111, bundle=151]: Updating configuration property mail.null.host caused a problem: is not set
      org.osgi.service.cm.ConfigurationException: mail.null.host : is not set
      at org.opencastproject.kernel.mail.SmtpService.updated(SmtpService.java:80)
      at org.apache.felix.cm.impl.ConfigurationManager$ManagedServiceUpdate.run(ConfigurationManager.java:1160)
      at org.apache.felix.cm.impl.UpdateThread.run(UpdateThread.java:104)
      at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:745)

If there is no sensible default configuration, this should be a warning at startup and only give an error if the service is actually used.

I believe this is part of admin ng. If not, please change the component.
