As this is only an edge case, I will close this issue.

If this behavior is still happen too often, please re-open.

I have to correct myself: it works on IE10 (Win 8.1 and Win 10) but the spinner is not removed as reliable as on all other browsers. But in 80% of the cases it gets removed. I was unfortunate in my first tests to have some of the edge cases first. But even then there is the pause/play workaround for the user.

The implementation of the spinner is very different in video.js 5, so the old proposed workaround is not available anymore.

Unfortunately this is still an issue. It has improved slightly that when the video gets paused and played again, the animation hides. I will implement the fix to turn off the progress indicator.

Hi Rüdiger, meanwhile video.js has been updated. Is this still relevant?

yes. It's an video.js bug. A workaround would be to turn off the progress indicator at all. No idea if this would be a good option.
