VGA disconnect then reconnect does not always reacquire the signal

from kristofor:

1. Schedule a capture
2. During the capture, unplug the VGA cable.
3. Plug it back in at some point while the same capture is still occurring

Sometimes it starts sending new frames, other times it just recognizes that the signal is back, but does not send new frames, just the test pattern.

hardware solution already exists, but Osnabruck is pushing for this for 1.1. currently a candidate.

@Adam: which hardware solution is this?

Wrong Adam but I will answer the question anyway

This is the Epiphan VGA2USB device that we recommend using for hardware. Unfortunately the way the drivers are written cause the device to disappear as soon as the signal is unplugged and then it reappears when it detects a signal. This causes havoc with our gstreamer pipelines that we use to capture.

I guess this is a dublicate of the other ticket. We fixed this and the provided the patch at the other ticket. We tested it with 50+ recordings here in osnabrück and it works quite fine. So I would suggest that someone from the CA team would have a look at this and check this in I guess that we could close this ticket too
